SUMMARY:LEDucation 1
DESCRIPTION:In 2006\, Peggy Meehan and Bob Nadel of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) met with Burt Grant of the Designers Lighting Forum (DLF) with an idea for a joint IES/DLF program on new and evolving LEDs in the lighting industry. They formed a committee and started planning the show to be held on January 17\, 2007\, which would include both presentations and LED-only exhibits. They were able to get the McGraw Hill Conference Center and use of the auditorium for the programs presented by Michael Hennes of Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design\, Howard Mastropiero of Philips Lighting\, and Ann Reo of IO Lighting. The show had 31 exhibitor tables and about 350 attendees. With the show’s success\, the question came up if it would be done again the following year. After getting a terrific response from manufacturers asking to exhibit at the next show\, LEDucation was off and running\, with LEDucation II on the horizon.
