Light and Magic!

September 22nd, 2011

About the Event

Our season kick-off is also our annual Theater Benefit event, and this year’s event will be like no other we’ve attended: the world premiere of Cirque de Soleil’s Zarkana. Staged at the iconic Radio City Music Hall, Zarkana is “an acrobatic rock opera that blends circus arts with the surreal to create a world where physical virtuosity rubs shoulders with the strange.” Following the glowingly praised production, DLFNY attendees will be treated to an exclusive post-show discussion with the show’s lighting designer, Alain Lortie, who will discuss the lighting opportunities and challenges in capturing this physically dynamic performance on the grand stage of Radio City.

A portion of each ticket will go to benefit the DLFNY Lighting Education Initiative. The Initiative supports the lighting programs of New York City’s educational institutions as well as the Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education.
