An Evening Cruise to See the NYC Skyline: Lighting the Urban Landscape in the Era of LEDs

September 25th, 2018

About the Event

Join the DLFNY for our autumn kickoff event, a twilight cruise around lower Manhattan. We will hear stories about the rich history of our nighttime city, the iconic neighborhoods, buildings and bridges that form our skyline view, and learn new perspectives about how we view the urban environment at night. The cruise will cover such icons as the Statue of Liberty (now converted to LED), the World Financial Center and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Our guest speakers are Leni Schwendinger and John Kriskiewic. Leni is a published, award-winning, authority on issues of city lighting, with more than 20 years of worldwide experience, creating illuminated environments. Her projects focus on nighttime experience in public spaces such as landscape and infrastructure.

John Kriskiewicz, a professor of architectural history, is an expert on NYC infrastructure and an accomplished presenter on the New York waterways.

Light dinner fare, wine and beer and a beautiful sunset will be served.

DLFNY thanks our event sponsors:
Platinum: Acuity Brands Lighting and Luminii Corp
Gold: Stan Deutsch Associates
Silver: Satco Lighting, Erco Lighting USA and Lumenpulse Group
