Stadium Lighting: More Than Just The Field
November 17th, 2021
About the Event
There is a growing trend in sports hospitality that places emphasis on the guest experience and the celebration of the community and locale. As stadiums evolve, their focus extends beyond the field to luxury interior stadium spaces and to the entertainment districts around them. Stadiums are no longer just for game days, with certain areas now open 365 days a year.
We will review the context, design, and development of the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California and Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. While these stadiums have different aesthetics, budgets, and timelines, their core needs remain similar. Deliver a super-scale project on time for the associated sport’s pre-season opening events, and keep it under budget. Provide scalable design solutions for repetitive environments, while creating unique design experiences for each club and luxury area. Consider the end users’ journey through the stadium on both game and non-game days, and enhance memorable views and ‘Instagrammable’ moments along the way.
We will also address the challenges navigated while completing projects of this scale during an international pandemic and lockdown, and the complexities of designing buildings and programs intended for mass gatherings and public displays of face and body paint.
