BAM Fisher, Brooklyn’s Next Wave Theater
April 8th, 2014
About the Event
Join us for a tour and discussion of BAM’s new Richard B. Fisher building a LEED Gold performing arts center that promises to be an artistic hub within a developing cultural community. The central challenge of the design was to create, on a small budget, an inviting exterior under the constraints of the building’s landmark-status; the principal lighting features had to be subtle or come from within.
The building draws one in through its street presence and enlivened interior, illuminating the façade without marring the historic fabric. The open lobby, rooftop terrace, and flexible black-box theater comprise an extension of BAM that is inextricably woven into its neighborhood.
Cline Bettridge Bernstein, lighting designers on the project, will lead a tour through the primary spaces of the facility and will discuss their concept and solutions.
